The beginning of a new year feels like an opportunity for a fresh start. I am not talking about resolutions… I don’t’ know about you, but I am never very good at keeping those.
Instead, I like to use the time leading up to the end of the year to reflect on where I have succeeded and where I failed, what I have accomplished in 2024, and what I appreciate. At the same time, I think about how I will continue to grow in 2025, both personally and professionally, and what I want to do to continue my path to achieve greater fulfillment.
The steps I used in doing this included:
- Self-reflection: A critical step in figuring out what is most important to me right now, generating possible opportunities for change/ enrichment, and taming my inner critic.
- Visualization: I used a vision board for this! This process of finding pictures, clippings, words, and quotes that visually affirmed my goals in life, and activated the creative part of my brain helped me to see the possibilities and opened my heart to what was important to me.
- Connections: Speaking with friends, family, clients, and fellow coaches helped me to think through my ideas, learn new things, solicit feedback, and recognize the power and energy developed by connecting with others.
How this process has helped:
As I enter 2025, I have a clearer picture of what is most important for me right now. I am aware that they may change as I move forward, but these exercises help to keep me grounded, focused, and motivated to have a great year! My priorities fall into 3 key areas: Self- Care, Relationships, and Coaching. In each I have identified next steps in how I want to proceed.
There is no one “best way” to figure out where you want to put your focus in 2025, but I encourage you to figure out what inspires you!
